Foxconn Starts Building iPhone 16e Units in Brazil

Foxconn, Apple’s top manufacturing partner, has been steadily expanding iPhone production outside of China over the years, with facilities now operating in India, Vietnam, and Brazil. A recent rumor hinted at Apple ramping up its manufacturing footprint in Brazil—and now, it’s confirmed: iPhone 16e units sold in Brazil are being assembled locally at Foxconn’s plant in Jundiaí, São Paulo.

According to MacMagazine, the retail packaging for the iPhone 16e in Brazil carries the label “Assembled in Brazil – Brazilian Industry.” These units are marked with model number A3409 and identifier MD1R4BR/A.

This isn’t Foxconn‘s first time building iPhones in Brazil—the company has previously assembled the iPhone SE (2020), as well as the standard iPhone 13, 14, 15, and now the 16.

With recent Liberation Day tariffs prompting Apple to rethink its global supply chain strategy, Brazil’s relatively low 10% import tax makes it an increasingly attractive option for local production.
