Samsung Galaxy M56 is 30% slimmer with 5,000mAh battery

Later this year, Samsung will unveil its sleek flagship, the Galaxy S25 Edge. However, it won’t be the only slim and lightweight device in the 2025 lineup. According to Samsung, the Galaxy M56 is the slimmest phone in its segment.

In terms of size, the M56 is just 7.2mm thick and weighs 180g. For comparison, the A56 is 7.4mm thick and 198g, while the M55 is 7.8mm thick and weighs 180g. All three devices feature a 5,000mAh battery and a 6.7” display.

Speaking of the display, the M56 sports a 6.74” Super AMOLED+ panel that’s 33% brighter and has 36% thinner bezels compared to its predecessor, the M55. This 1080p+ panel also supports a 120Hz refresh rate.

Under the hood, the Galaxy M56 is powered by last year’s Exynos 1480. While not as fast as the Exynos 1580 in the A56, the 1480 is still a 4nm chip with AMD RDNA 2 graphics and Cortex-A78/A55 CPU cores. Additionally, the device has a 33% larger vapor chamber compared to the M55, helping with heat dissipation.

The M56 comes with 8GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage. While there’s no mention of a microSD card slot, the device supports dual SIM cards and sub-6GHz 5G (bands: 1, 3, 5, 8, 28, 40, 41, 78). Other connectivity options include USB 2.0 Type-C, Wi-Fi 6 (ax), and Bluetooth 5.3. However, there’s no NFC support.

On the camera front, the M56 features a 50MP main sensor with an f/1.8 OIS-enabled lens and supports 4K video recording at 30fps with 10-bit HDR. The main camera also offers an in-sensor 2x zoom, as there is no dedicated telephoto lens. There’s also an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 2MP macro lens. For selfies, the M56 has a 12MP front camera with an f/2.2 fixed-focus lens. The phone also offers Galaxy AI features like Edit Suggestions, Object Eraser, and Image Clipper to help enhance and modify your photos.

As for the battery, the M56 continues to feature a 5,000mAh capacity with 45W fast charging, just like the M55.

Although there is no official dust or water resistance rating, the M56 is tougher than its predecessor. It features Gorilla Glass Victus+ on both the front and back, offering 4x the scratch resistance compared to the previous model’s glass. Samsung also tested the phone for fall endurance from a height of 2 meters.

The Samsung Galaxy M56 is manufactured in India and will receive software updates until the end of 2030, including 6 OS updates and 6 years of security patches. It will be available in Light Green and Black.

The Galaxy M56 will be available for purchase in India starting April 23, with a starting price of ₹25,000 (approximately $295/€260).
